Mahiʻai Meal Kits with Whole Foods Market 2020

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

November 19th and 20th, 2020 - Chef Hui, in collaboration with Whole Foods Market and Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation distributed 600 Mahiʻai Meal Kits to Oʻahu public schools that participate in the ʻĀINA In Schools Program.

The bags were intended to thank our local farmers, or mahiʻai, and give the gift of togetherness and fresh local produce to families in need. The goal was to encourage families to utilize these ingredients and have fun preparing a healthy meal together while learning about the bounty of local produce that is available to us in Hawaiʻi.

“I just wanted to thank you so much for the mahiai meal kit! It is an amazing effort and so exciting! The homemade sauce was out of this world! Please share the recipe!!! I have a small farm and wanna grow more tomatoes to make that sauce! So inspired! It warms my heart to see an effort like this come to fruition of connecting local farms and fresh vegetarian food to the community in this inspiring way. Thank you! Beautiful work! “ - Kiki Chung (parent at Haleiwa Elementary)
